This has been a long awaited blog post lemme tell ya! It was frustrating waiting for some of these brands to get their products to me. But I think i’ve gotten a pretty good idea of all the leggings out there.
Now lets talk leggings.
I went through every brand I could come up with, brands that I have known previously, and brands that were new to me, and tried them all!

Gymshark Energy + Seamless Legging

Thoughts: Gymshark has a HUGE following, and I have actually owned a few pairs in the past. I wasn’t crazy about them, and was definitely frustrated with the sizing as I had two of the same pair (different colors) but they seemed to fit differently. So trying these again, I didn’t have super high expectations but knew I had to review them because peoplesiz go crazzyyyyy for gymshark. well. I see why now. These were definitely top 3 leggings I tried on. Highly Recommend!
Famme Legging

Material- silky, not highwaisted, fairly lightweight + fuzzy inside (warm)
Over all Rating- 4*

Thoughts: Famme approached me on instagram about a year ago and sent me a few pair of their leggings. The pair seen above and that were reviewed I decided to keep. These are legit 10x better and warmer and cuter than the underarmour leggings you wear UNDERNEATH your snowgear. I wear these on super cold days and they keep my legs insulated perfectly. They aren’t highwaisted, but fit the length of my leg perfect.
The other pair I had were more for working out. The material was silky on the outside, and didn’t have the fuzzy interior. They were fairly highwaisted (not like gymshark up to my boobs high) but right around the belly button. I felt like you had to be a little careful with how you moved in them to avoid CT (camel toe) but otherwise the fit really really impressed me. I’m giving it an overall rating of 4 just because I didn’t absolutely love them and ultimately gave them away. I do, however, see TONS of others on the site I have high expectations for and would try!

Nike Pro Warm Training Tight

Material- silky, extremely lightweight on your skin, not high waisted, loose fitting, not insulated

Thoughts: I know there are nike leggings out there that I love (so I’ll be sure to share them at the end of this blurb) but these just weren’t a pair I liked. I did have to try a size SM as opposed to an xs or xxs, but they were loose enough I wouldn’t feel confident that an xs would be tight enough for me. These are meant to be insulated and used for warmth- that’s bewildering to me as these were incredibly lightweight which made the material very comfortable, but not insulated in the slightest. I wouldn’t suggest these leggings for workouts or for cold weather gear.

Aerie Move Leggings

Material- fairly lightweight, silky, the teensiest bit loose, high waisted

Thoughts: I had never tried the Play version of Aerie’s leggings. These are absolutely your workout leggings. The outer most material is that silky fabric perfect for working out and sweating. I didn’t find them quite as comfortable as the chill or play which is why I am rating them a 4. You also need to be a bit careful to avoid that CT. These particular pair have mesh which I don’t particularly like because they are stiff and don’t move well with your legs and the rest of the leggings. They are loose in those areas. For the most part these are squatproof, especially considering they’re white. I don’t wear anything underneath my leggings, and I was on the ground upside down checking and you’ll be good to go. These get a thumbs up for me.
Old Navy Moto Leggings

Material- fairly lightweight, very very loose, feels poor quality, loose in the portion of the pelvis area

Thoughts: I would give these leggings a 2 star if I felt that where the leggings were loose were only loose on me because I have such skinny legs, but the material is loose “on top” and in the front so it felt like a material issue as opposed to a skinny-leg issue. I loved the style of these, and would suggest trying a kids size if you’re around my size and looking for some old navy leggings. Linked here.
Girlfriend Collective Legging

Material- CRUSHINGLY tight around the waist, super loose down to the knees, very thin, high waisted (over belly button)
Over all Rating- 2*

Thoughts: These were literally suffocatingly tight around the waist. It felt like it was cutting me in half, but then got loose around the front pelvic area. Extremely thin material and not at all gym/squatproof. Wouldn’t recommend these to anyone who likes to breathe or bend over.
Zella Live in Legging

Material- A little thicker than the typical silky, workout legging, tight in the right places, high waisted, length is long
Overall Rating- 3.5*

Thoughts: I can totally see why people absolutely love these. For me in particular, I tried the smallest size available and it was just a little too big yet. You definitely need to be bigger than me (weight and height) for these to work, but they are quite comfortable. Material feels well made, a little bit thicker but not heavy. There is bunching, so if you’re my height you may need to roll the ankles. Overall they’re good, but don’t work for me.
Nike Womens Training Leggings

Material- Silky, workout apparel, still a little loose, high rise

Thoughts: there was nothing special about these, and they were still just loose enough that I wouldn’t purchase. Any bigger than me, these would be great workout leggings. Nice and silky, breathable material. Length was long- would work well for someone taller than I.
Zyia Camo Pocket Capri Leggings

Thoughts: From the moment I found out that Zyia offered xxs, I was intrigued. When I put the leggings on, I am telling you they were so incredibly silky, tight all the way from the waist down to my ankle, and didn’t give the dreaded ‘whisper’ camel toe. EEWWW. completely squat proof, and I even took these puppies to the gym. I immediately bought three pairs and each one stays tts and fits phenomenally. RECOMMEND 100%
Adidas Trefold Tight

Thoughts: I am an adidas girl through and through. I love their shoes, hats, sweatshirts all of it. Except these leggings. They were HUGE! When I was walking through the Adidas section of Dick’s I didn’t even think these were considered leggings because they feel like sweats. Extremely high waisted, which is why I gave it an overall 2 star, but otherwise so so loose. And I know if they sold an xxs they still wouldn’t work.
I would suggest these if you want a pair of adidas.
Underarmour Leggings

Thoughts: These fit so great I almost bought them right there! They were light weight and comfy, but the silky material I would want for working out. I typically have an issue with mesh because it doesn’t stretch or tends to be too stretched out, but this was great and stuck to my legs the way they should. These hit me just above my ankle and were right around my belly button. No CT and squatproof. Definitely recommend.
Kiava Cut Out Capri Legging

Thoughts: I have a bra from this brand, and it’s hands down my favorite sports bra I own so I was excited to give these leggings a try. Now the material is just as amazing as my bra- hard to explain. A little thicker, feels expensive, but it’s not heavy on your legs. There’s this awesome drawstring around the waistband which I have never seen before but omg what a brilliant idea. The leggings were tight on me from just above the knee down, but got loose as it went up. I would need to use the drawstring, and if you have more butt and thigh than I do, I think you’d really really like these leggings.
Aerie Play Leggings

Material- fairly lightweight, cotton-like material, high waisted

Thoughts: Aerie has 3 different legging styles: Chill, Play, and Move. Your chill leggings are VERY sweatlike, and are definitely meant for “chilling” around the house. These Play leggings are my favorite of the three! They are perfectly in between that silky, workout material, and the full on cotton, sweats feel. So so comfortable and no CT. I love that they come in an xxs option (which means more options for you!) although xxs is only available online. The material is plenty stretchy enough that I feel a good portion of people bigger than I could do an xxs as well. The length was perfect for me, and left room for growth (like that’ll ever happen ha). Highly highly recommend, especially for the price!
GAP Leggings

Thoughts: IMO Gap is always better than Old Navy. Sorry Old navy, but everything Gap does is just.. better. These fit 100x better than the old navy pair, and were just a tad loose around the butt area for me, but that was because I am too skinny. So if you find that a lot of the leggings that I find fit me fit you, these might be loose for you, but literally anyone 5lb heavier than me and up will like these. Totally squatproof and worth paying a little extra money for.

Thoughts: These are incredibly lightweight! Like… if i were to choose a pair of leggings to wear all day these would definitely be them. But they are so lightweight, that it made me feel a little uncomfortable just doing a squat test so i can imagine I’d feel a little naked in the gym. These were the full length and got loose around my ankles, just because my legs are a little too short and these should have hit me higher up on my leg. Lulu does offer hemming which is super nice. These are really really comfortable and I’d say get them if you’re a legging wearer throughout the year (and NOT in cold weather) but they aren’t my go-to otherwise.
Fabletics High Waisted Powerhold Leggings

Thoughts: I feel like my ratings alone should tell you how I feel about fabletics. I have been in love with this brand for YEARS now. They’re affordable especially compared to some of the other brands out there. You can find these linked ALL OVER my instagram. Literally everywhere. I wear them everyday, and I wear them to the gym. The powerhold is my favorite, but I haven’t had bad luck with any of them. No CT, and they fit me when I am underweight and when I’m carrying more muscle. The length is also perfect for me, and would work if you’re even a few inches taller than me. 100% recommend! Plus, if you’re new to fabletics, you get TWO PAIRS of leggings for $24. um yes.
I thought it would be helpful if I rated the leggings overall and what my top choices would be.

I’m not going to include Fabletics because well… I just love them and I can’t NOT choose them.
Top Choices
Aerie Play Leggings- for the price, comfort and style these would be my overall next choice. They aren’t fully silky where I would only want to wear them in the gym when I’m sweating, but they aren’t sweat-like material and not for the gym either.
Gymshark leggings- this was tough where I wanted to put these. The wait for the leggings really bummed me out (it took like 2 weeks!) so then the price and the extra price for faster shipping is not so fun, but the material works for everyday wear and working out. I loved the height of the high waist as well.
Zyia Leggings- I can’t explain how comfy these are. I love all the styles and the fit is phenomenal. No CT, perfectly tight (xxs available! yay). These are definitely worth the price and perfect workout leggings!
Underarmour Leggings - these particular leggings are on sale for under $36 and the style is so cute! Even the mesh part fit and moved perfectly with my legs and the rest of the material. They were silky- so definitely your workout leggings. So good!
